With the Chief Minister’s approval, the Information and Public Relations Department has sanctioned ex-gratia @ Rs 15 lakh to the next of kin of 17 working journalists, who have died of Covid-19. A sum of Rs 2.55 crore has been sanctioned from the Journalist Welfare Fund.
A few more such cases have been received by the department for which assistance would be disbursed after due verification. After required enquiry at the district level, eligible applications would be considered for disbursement of the ex-gratia compassionate assistance.
