: More shocking details have been revealed in the case of a man murdering his wife and two-year-old daughter using a venomous snake in Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district.
Police said the accused K Ganesh had planned the murder three months in advance. He had purchased a new SIM to buy snakes eight days before the murder. He had also contacted six snake charmers through the same SIM.
Finally, after striking a deal with one Basant Acharya to supply snakes, Ganesh destroyed the SIM and threw it away so that the evidence is destroyed. However, after the police came to know about the SIM card, they retrieved the Call Data Record (CDR) which led them to four snake charmers and finally to Basant Acharya, who was arrested on Friday.
Acharya’s statement was recorded in the JMFC Court in Kabisuryanagar following the arrest.
Sources said Ganesh contacted six snake charmers to obtain a cobra while only Acharya agreed to give him a venomous cobra in return for money. The statements of three other snake charmers were also recorded.
Notably, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Sushant Nada on Friday ordered an inquiry into the murder by snakebite case where Ganesh allegedly used a cobra to kill his wife and daughter.
