PNS

Orampada in Burla township, a part of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC), now is facing acute health hazards as most of the residents of the Pada are suffering from kidney related diseases.

Even if the VIMSAR is close to it, but the matter has not come to the notice of the authorities of the MCH or even to the district level health department.

However, when the residents of the Pada brought the matter to the notice of the district administration, Collector Samarth Verma accompanied by the senior officers from the Health Department, the Red Cross and other line officials visited the habitation personally to know the problem.

During the visit, the residents complained to the Collector that they don’t get pure drinking water for which the disease has spread tentacles.

“A mega pipe line for water supply to the Sambalpur University premises by PHED crosses through this particular Pada. But no provision has been made to supply the PHED water to the people here,” the residents alleged.

They further said that a pond (Kata) of the Pada is in dilapidated condition and needs renovation. Collector Verma assured speedy renovation of the Kata and instructed the line officials present accordingly.

After knowing all the problems of the residents and the dreaded kidney disease, Verman instructed the officials of the Health Department present for health test of all patients having complicacies and provide them necessary treatment so that the disease can be contained.

He further said the officials of the PHED to provide clean drinking water so that the people will no more use the water available from tube wells or other sources that creates the kidney disease.
