Senior journalist Laxmidhar Sahoo died of cardiac arrest at the age of 70 on Friday. He was an active member of the Odisha Union of Journalists for the last 30 hears.
He was nominated as Councillor to Khorda Municipality twice. He would be remembered for his unflinching courage and ability in the field of journalism.
Another journalist Pratap Chandra Das died of Covid-19 at the age of 55.Scribes held a condolence meeting under the chairmanship Uma Shankar Prasad at Sambadika Bhawan here. Among others, Pravat Mishra, Niranjan Dora, Satya Paikaray, Surya Mohanty, Syd Ansar Alli, Syd Lakat Alli, Pradip Kumar Behera, Sarat Chandra Barik, Narayan Mohanty, Prakash Hati, Santosh Barik, Dillip Pattanaik, Balaji Patra, Subhalaxmi Samantara, Prabhat Das and Prabina Bhanja paid tributes to the departed souls.
They urged the district administration to take necessary steps for early release of financial supports to the bereaved family of Pratap Das as per the Covid guidelines.
