The District Press Club of Nuapada conducted a meeting with the officials of the electricity department at Khariar to discuss the problems of electricity supply in Khariar town. Executive Engineer of Nuapada Electrical Division AS Dash, Superintending Engineer Alok Satapathi, Khariar Electrical SDO, Mohan Sing Munda and Junior Engineer Nanda
Nag were present to discuss possible steps to address the problems raised by the members of the Press Club.
The main points of discussion were about assurance of quality in the ongoing work of laying an 11-KV line on National Highway inside the town, shifting of transformers from populated areas, shifting of the 11-KV ware from over the Khariar college ground, installation of a transformer in Ward-3, replacing lT open ware with cables on the main road of the town, etc.
Press Club members also demanded action against the people who have taken connection bypassing the meters. The department has identified 80 such unauthorised connections in the town.
The SE and the EE assured that appropriate actions would be taken and instructed the SDO and the JE, Khariar to take up some of the suggested activities immediately. Press Club members assured cooperation in all respect like mobilisation of public support.
The SE subsequently conducted a meeting with all the JEs of the district. “We have discussed all matters in detail. Electrical supply will be strengthened by improvement of infrastructures and services. We are overwhelmed that we got encouragement from a proactive group like you,” said Satapathi.
