A day after quitting the BJP, Khariar MLA and former Minister Duryodhan Majhi joined the BJD on Saturday.
The tribal leader joined the BJD in the presence of party supremo Naveen Patnaik.
The five-time MLA ended his stint with the BJP after the party fielded former BJP MLA Hitesh Bagarti’s wife Rita for the Khariar Assembly seat.
In his resignation letter to BJP State president Basant Panda, Majhi stated that despite repeated requests to the party leadership to contest from the Khariar Assembly seat, his plea fell on deaf ears.
It may be mentioned that Mahi had quit the BJD in 2014 after he was denied a ticket to contest the polls.
