Congress presidential candidate Mallikarjun Kharge met the Odisha voters at the Congress Bhawan here on Friday and appealed to them to vote for him. Notably, Odisha has 428 votes.
Earlier, on his arrival he was given a grand welcome.
Kharge said the BJP-led Government is destroying the country and toppling the elected Governments in different States by horse trading and using money power. If they have the support of the masses as they are claiming, then why are they resorting to such tactics?
The BJP Government is misusing the Central agencies like the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate against their opponents to browbeat them, he alleged.
The BJP and the RSS are destroying the country and they have no respect for the Constitutional and democratic institutions. But he alone can’t do anything. So, he needs everybody’s support to topple the present regime. Kharge said.
He has been in the Congress from 1969 and was inducted into the party by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi when the party had split into two factions. He has not come from the top but gradually risen through the ranks to the present position, he pointed out.
He is fighting the organisational elections as he was asked to, he added.
