In another such incident, a man had to carry the body of his wife on his shoulders for 12 km from the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here to his village as he failed to obtain a mortuary van or an ambulance from the hospital authorities.
According to information, 42-year-old Amang Dei died around 2 am on Wednesday while undergoing treatment for tuberculosis at the DHH.
Though he tried a lot, Amang’s husband Dana Majhi could not get an ambulance till the dawn. He then wrapped the body in cloth and carried it on his shoulders and left for his village Melghara under Rampur block.
Dana was accompanied by his 12-year-old daughter.
