Now, many Brahmapur people have failed to understand whether it is Khallikote University or Khallikote Autonomous College.
It is so suspected from the fact that the annual function was held in the college name on Sunday and Gopalpur MlA and former Minister Pradeep Panigrahi urged Higher Education Minister Ananta Das on the dais for according a unitary university tag to the college at the earliest.
“It makes me unhappy that the annual function is being held in the Khallikote Autonomous College name while it was held under the banner of Khalikote Cluster University last year when I was Higher Education Minister,” said Panigrahi.
He said it was planned to keep four colleges under the Khalikote Cluster University whole PG Departments were separated from the college and kept under it. But as many opposed the separation of the PG Departments from the cluster university, the departments were restored to the college again. “It is now creating a suspicion. To make it clear, the Khillikote College should be accorded a unitary university status like Ravenshaw University in Cuttack,” suggested Panigrahi.
To this, the Minister asked the Vice-Chancellor, College Principal and senior lecturers to come to him for a discussion. The department would certainly make all concepts clear through notifications, the Minister said.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Amarendra Narayan Mishra said there should be separate campus for the university so that all doubts of students and intellectuals would be clear.
