PNS

Even though 12 years have already passed since its establishment, students’ much-liked Khallikote Junior College is yet to get infrastructure of its own, thanks to the negligence of the Higher Education Department.

The college, in which most of the students dream to study, is still operating in the Khallikote Autonomous College premises here.

In this backdrop, intellectuals in the city have raised questions on the sustainability of the college.  The college does not have classrooms, examination halls and library.

Though fund is not a problem for the development of the college, neither any leader nor the department is concerned about its future, alleged locals.

The State Government had sanctioned Rs5 crore for the college building in 2015-16. But the said money returned as location was not finalised for construction of its campus in due period. The department is yet to accept the land indentified near the stadium.

This apart, the Government has also sanctioned Rs16 crore for construction of hostels also. It is now apprehended that the money would return as the Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation is yet to begin its construction.

locals have demanded that the Government construct buildings for the college at an appropriate place so that student would not face any problem. If the Government delays it, students would be disheartened and gradually lose confidence on the college.
