On Friday and Saturday, they were found begging door to door with children by side and also sitting at Achyutpur Chowk on Cuttack-Chandabali road.

Aniruddha Mallick and his brother Sankarshan Mallick of Achyutpur under Rajkanika police station are among the 24 persons who have been arrested for joining a protest rally against a water supply project in Rajkanika and for involvement in ransacking of assets of a construction company and attacking police on August 12. The protest rally was staged by Kharasrota Banchao Sangram Samiti(KBSS).

Their 3rd brother Rabindra who was working in Bangalore as a daily wager committed suicide after he lost mental balance in not being able to get his brothers freed from jail and support family financially as after arrest of Aniruddha and Sankarshan, family was going through a difficult time without any earning. “I do not know what wrong my husband and brother-in-law have done.

Police came to house on wee hours of August 13 and forcibly took my husband and my brother –in-law. They did not listen to our pleas,” said Gitanjali Mallick, who along with other members of her family, was found begging to collect money for conducting deathrituals of Rabindra.
