Students of the PNS Engineering College at Angulai on the outskirts of Kendrapada town on Thursday went on rampage at the college and then staged a demonstration in front of the college main gate by burning tyres in protest against the callous attitude of the college authorities in conducting examinations.
The examinations for the sixth semester students of Civil Engineering had to begin at 8 am, but the question papers were provided 20 minutes after the schedule and the answer papers were collected at 11 am as per earlier schedule. The students demanded 20 minutes more for writing answers.
When the authorities did not pay heed to the demand, irate students damaged a CCTV camera, electricity connection, class door glasses, flower pots and other college properties.
College Principal Sk Samsur said the allegations of the students were baseless as the examinations started in time and completed as per the schedule.
The students actually protested the installation of CCTV camera at the examination hall.
