PNS

Slamming the State Government for its apathetic attitude towards the KBK districts in the State, Rajya Sabha Congress member Rama Chandra Khuntia raised a slew of questions during the Zero Hour of the Upper House on Friday last.

Khuntia alleged that even after around Rs 2,000 crore was spent during last 18 years for the KBK districts under various schemes of the Union Government, apart from State Government-sponsored Biju KBK scheme, there is still no remarkable development in the education, transport, irrigation and health conditions in the districts.

Due to lack of concern of the State Government, no significant development has occurred in these districts, even though a huge amount of money is being provided under 16 flagships schemes of the Union and

State Governments, rued Khuntia. He asked why the office of Western Odisha Development Council to be set up in Sambalpur is operating at Bhubaneswar. Besides, he asked the Union Government to immediately send a high level committee to probe the matter.
