PNS

Senior IPS officer Kanwar Brajesh Singh, a 1985-batch officer, joined as the Vigilance Director here on Friday. He was given a guard of honour here in the morning and senior officers of different wings of the anti-corruption wing met him and congratulated him upon his assumption of the charge of an important post of the State police department.

An MSc from the Gorakhpur University, the ADG-rank officer started his career as Brahmapur SDPO in 1987 and served as SP of Brahmapur, Nuapada, Nabarangpur and Koraput. He also had a stint in the Special Branch before he served as DIG of PMT, Intelligence and Eastern Range at Baleswar.

Recipient of President’s Police Medal for both meritorious service and distinguished service, Singh went to the Centre on deputation in 2006 and served in the ITBP till he returned to the State in December 2012 when he was working as IGP of ITBP in its headquarters in New Delhi.

Upon his return to the State, he was promoted to the rank of ADG and was serving as Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA) as ADG (Training) before assuming the coveted post here on Friday.

Singh will be replaced as BPSPA Director by Shyam Sundar Hansdah, presently Officer on special Duty (OSD) at the DGP office. He had earlier also handled the BPSPA as its Director. However he would be soon retiring from the police service and working for the people in the tribal regions of the State, said sources.
