Dear Sir,
Kalinga Vihar Housing Colonies are a dream project of ex-Chief Minister Late Biju Patnaik, but after 25 long years, the basic amenities like road, park and market complex have not been put in place here.
Two roads connect Kalinga Vihar Housing Colonies, one from NH-16 to Sector 58 4 and another from Sector 6 to Sector-4. Since construction of the project, the two roads were repaired only once. As a result, the roads have been extensively damaged having potholes and blacktop surface having worn off. The Residential Welfare Association has requested the Bhubaneswar Development Authority to repair and maintain the two connecting roads or, alternatively, to transfer to the books of Works Department. This may please be considered.
There is a big park in Sector-6. There are two small parks in K-5 which are now defunct due to want of regular maintenance. Both parks may be maintained and an open air gym may be installed in one of them.
Though there are many open spaces, another vacant space may be developed for a big park so that senior citizens use it for morning and evening walks.
Considering the demand of residents, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority has constructed a market complex in Sector-6 a few years back. But due to want of electrification, it has not been made operational.
There should be electrification of the place and shops may be allotted to eligible beneficiaries.
Sixteen Mo Buses are going from Kalinga Vihar to Siridisai Mandir. As there is no bus-stand, the vehicles are parked on the roads. So, a bus-stand may be constructed from NH-16 so that one can enter Kalinga Vihar Housing Colonies. But the junction is dangerous for two- and four-wheelers from accident point of view since after opening of the mega DN Regalla Shopping Mall on the roadside the junction has become very much crowded. Residents have also requested the Police Commissioner for establishment of a traffic post, but it is yet to materialise.
To sum up, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and the Commissionrate of Police are requested to consider the genuine grievances of the residents.
Rabi Narayan Pani, HIG-26,Kalinga Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
