Kalinga Bharati faces Plus II question leak slur

PNS

The Crime Branch sleuths investigating into the this year’s Plus II examination question paper leak case raided one more private residential college located on the outskirts of the city here on Friday.

led by a DSP-rank officer, a three-member team vetted the papers in the Kalinga Bharati Residential College (KBRC) located at Bhanpur, about five km from here. The police also quizzed the chairman and principal of the college and seized some documents. Sources, however, said that no arrest was made on the day.

It may be recalled that this particular residential college was in the eye of storm a few years ago when a record number of students of this college found places in the top 20 lists of the Plus II results. The outstanding result of the college was viewed as a fluke as in subsequent years, the college did not match the same results.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Crime Branch police are also contemplating to make similar visits to at least four other private colleges of Cuttack city in near future in connection with the question paper leak episode.

Questions of at least three subjects were leaked during the examination held in March-April this year forcing the authorities to cancel the papers and conduct the examinations in Physics and Chemistry afresh.

Taking up the investigations, the CB sleuths had arrested at least six persons, including a Deputy Secretary of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), which conducts the Plus II examinations.

Teachers and bosses of as many as four other private colleges were arrested following which the State Government has banned these tainted colleges from admitting fresh students at Plus II level from this year.
