The closing ceremony of the annual Kalinga Baliyatra here was held on Friday evening with local MlA and Minister Dr Damodar Rout as chief guest and Jagatsinghpur MP Dr Kulamni Samal as guest of honour.
Paradeep Municipality Chairman Basanta Kumar Biswal and Vice-Chairman Pravati Nayak, ADM Biswajit Biswal and Preetinanda Routray also attended the valedictory function presided over by district Collector Yamini Sarangi.
The eight-day Kalinga Baliyatra had started on November 3 at the Paradip sea beach. All programmes concluded with peacefully and successfully. Every evening, top cultural troupes from different parts of Odisha presented their performances.
This year, about 800 stalls were opened at the fair. The stalls selling a wide range of products from spices to furniture had brisk businesses. The Palishree Mela alone made a turnover of over Rs 9 crore from home products of Self-Help Groups.
