The Odisha High Court has issued notices to Kalahandi district administration, Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC), District Cooperative Society, District Civil Supplies department and the rice millers of the district asking them to submit a reply on paddy purchase irregularities at the Temara mandi under Kokasara block during 2012-13.
The HC issued notices in response to a PIl filed by as many as 537 farmers, including 118 of BPl category, of the district. They had alleged while they have not sold any paddy to the mandi, the concerned authorities have misappropriated huge amounts of money by fraudulently mentioning their names in the procurement list. Meanwhile, the Vigilance department has begun a probe into the incident.
