The much-discussed Kabita Mahakud harassment case has now taken a new turn as one Debasis Mahakud, who claims to be the husband of Kabita, has filed a case in the Keonjhar Family Court seeking to get back his wife and three children.
Notably, Kabita, mother of three children and who hails from Malkangiri district, has filed cases at the State Women Commission and the Bhubaneswar Mahila Police Station against multimillionaire Champua MlA Sanatan Mahakud and his son Pankaj claiming that she had married to Pankaj as her second husband and has a daughter from his side. While they were living quite happily as a couple, her husband (Pankaj) has been taken away forcefully from her by people of Sanatan Mahakud.
On the other hand, Debasis claimed that he had married to Kabita in the year 2007 as per Hindu rituals. When there has been no divorce between them, how Kabita can remarry and accept another man as her husband, he wanted to know.
He further alleged when he tried to get back his wife and children, Kabita’s people threatened to kill him. He then filed a case in the court of Sub-Collector, Keonjhar Sadar. The Sub-Collector also summoned to Kabita and her father to appear before him. But as they did not turn up, the Sub-Collector advised him to take shelter of the family court, Debasis said. The court has also summoned Kabita to appear before it on May 3.
Now, people are waiting eagerly to know what would be the next sequence of the story as it relates to a multimillionaire political family of Odisha.
