A black conjurer faced the wrath of locals at seaside Bengali dominated coastal pocket of Kharanashi village under Jamboo Marine police station on Sunday wee hours as the locals suspected that the accused was practicing sorcery.
According to sources, one Biswanth Mandal of Kharanashi village had a long standing land dispute with his neighbour Manoranjan Mandal. As a result, for ushering in a good time to the family, Biswanath on Saturday night took the help of a black conjurer, Balei Ghadai, of Paradip area and invited him to his house to perform pujapath.
Later, Balei started a pujapath by keeping human bones ,vermilion and other puja items. Finally, he along with Biswanath went to bury the bones and other puja items in the land of Manoranjan, who was not present at his house. Later, the sorcerer made an attempt to enter into the house of Manoranjan.
Manoranjan’s wife Basanti and a neighbour woman, Chandana,who were slyly watching the conjurer’s activities, nabbed him suspecting that the conjurer had an ill intension of abducting the youngest son of Basanti for human sacrifice.
The duo women later screamed for help. The locals reached at the spot, nabbed the conjurer and thrashed him heavily.
Jamboo Marine police reached at the spot and managed to rescue Balei and detained him at the police station. On Sunday, Basanti lodged an FIR and the police registered a case.
