Police arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in smuggling ganja in Koraput district on Friday and seized a huge cache of ganja. On a tipoff, the police searched two vehicles near Kokriguda Chhak under the Semiliguda police station of the district at around 11 am on Friday.
During the search of the Mahindra pickup and a motorcycle, the police recovered 1,000 kg ganja. Following this, five persons from whose possession the police recovered the contraband item were arrested.
The accused identified as Parmesh, Kartika Chapadi, Gopal Bhoi, Shyama Bhoi and Damu Bhoi were forwarded to court on Saturday.
