The Vigilance police on Thursday arrested Kandhamal District Labour Officer (DLO) Ranjan Kishore Behera while he was taking bribe of Rs 15,000 from Babuja Pradhan, president of the Anchalika Biswakarma Shramika Sangha, Tikabali to process death relief files of four persons, including his father’s, for release of Rs 1,00,000 each in favour of their legal heirs.
“A trap was laid and Behera was caught red-handed in his office chamber while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.15,000 from Pradhan,” said an official release.
Behera’s office room and residential quarter at Phulbani and residential building at Cuttack were being searched, added the release.
