The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a report from the Kalahandi district Superintendent of Police regarding the rape of a minor tribal girl.
It was alleged that despite an FIR registered on the complaint regarding the accused persons no action was taken by the police against them.
In response the Kalahandi SP informed the NHRC that as per inquiry a case has been registered and during investigation the police tried to arrest the accused but no positive result was achieved.
The Commission has considered the material placed on record. It is observed that report is silent on the medical examination, aid to the victim and counselling of her. Further the report is also silent on non registration of FIR under SC/ST Act as the victim is a tribal girl. The commission directed the SP Kalahandi to send the updated status, outcome of investigation, compensation to the victim in the case within four weeks.
