The Sahadevkhunta police on Wednesday took three miscreants, including two juveniles, into custody for being involved in crimes, mainly road snatchings.
The arrested Samir Kumar Barik (21) of Soro and other two, both of 17 years of age, are of the Sahadevkhunta area. The 17-year-olds are students of diploma course of two different institutions of Baleswar town.
On Monday evening, a mobile snatching incident had taken place and the victim was Rashmiranjan Padhi. Basing on Padhi’s complaint, the police first nabbed Barik and then the other two of the gang.
Police seized four cell phone sets and two bikes from their possessions.
During interrogation, they confessed that they were involved in several incidents of snatching. They were booked under Section 394 of IPC.
Sahadevkhunta PS IIC Paresh Rout said the mastermind in the gang, a student leader, is absconding. “Although two of the arrested are claimed to be juveniles, we are verifying their age from their school certificates. If proved juvenile, they would be produced before the Juvenile Board or else they would be also forwarded to court,” the IIC said.
