Police on Wednesday arrested a 15-year-old boy on the charge of taking a rape attempt on a 35-year-old woman at Dubasahi village under the Kamarda police station in Baleswar district on Monday. The accused tied the victim’s hands and legs finding her alone in the backyard of her house and attempted to rape her. However, he could not proceed as the woman raised an alarm. The victim’s husband was away for some work at that time. When returned home, he found his wife with hands and legs tied and in a senseless state.
After rescuing her, he lodged an FIR with the Kamarda police. He alleged that the juvenile made an attempt to rape his wife by tying her hands and legs. The juvenile also stole away a pair of earrings, the husband alleged. The police then registered a case and arrested the accused. The woman was undergoing treatment in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), here. According to police, the accused is a distant relative of the victim’s family. He used to visit her house without any restriction. “The accused would be produced before the juvenile justice board after medical test,” said Kamarda PS OIC B Barik.
