The body of a one-and-a- half-year-old elephant was recovered from the Balikiari Reserve Forest under the Narasinghpur (West) Forest Range in Athagarh sub-division on Saturday. On June 3, Forest Department personnel had rescued the elephant, which was hit by sunstroke, near the Nuasahi Nala. After treating the calf, the Forest officials had released it into the jungle.An autopsy, conducted on the elephant’s body, revealed that it died due to the impact of the sunstroke.
