Carrying forward to BJP’s Sabka Sath Sabka Vikash programme, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram visited houses of poor tribals in one remote Kendmal village of Sundargarh district earlier this week and listened to their grievances, besides having traditional lunch at a house. Oram claimed the initiative would take the administration close to the people further.

Naiman Munda, a native of Kendmal village, about 150 km from the district headquarters town, was euphoric to receive Oram at his house. Oram was given a rousing reception in form of tribal dance. “We came to know about the sudden visit of Minister Oram to our house for lunch, just a hour before and whatever was present on our house, we served that to him,” said Munda, adding, “We are glad that he enjoyed the traditional tribal delicacies.”

Oram in his reaction over the food had high praises for the tribal hospitality, besides calling it as a memory of his childhood. “Despite being not financially sound, the approach of Naiman family for offering lunch to me with different tribal delicacies had touched me since it recalled my childhood memories,” Oram said. “Pakhal bhat in alloy container, dry fish fry, drum stick leaves fry, Kolath Dal fry, Kai egg (red ant) chatni and bamboo-shoot chatni were the items offered to me in lunch, which of course was a mouth watering taste,” Oram added.

“Besides the food, there was an open hearted interaction with the villagers about their day -to-day activities and problems etc,” Oram said.

Oram in his remark mentioned that senior BJP leaders and Ministers visiting to Odisha would also conduct such programme and visit rural villages and directly interact with them over lunch/dinner at their villages. “These activities would be part of our ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikash’ programme and I believe that with the help of this programme, we would be able to resolve many of the local issues besides developing a confidence among the rural masses,” Oram added.

Significantly, Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas programme of BJP was commenced in Rourkela since June 9 where BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Poddar graced the occasion as chief guest and gave details about the achievement of the Modi Government in last three years.
