In a tragic incident, a middle-aged woman and her five-year-old son were killed as the woman jumped onto a running train at Chhapada passenger halt on the Cuttack-Paradeep railway line on Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Manu Samal and her son of Gopalapur village under Raghunathpur block in Jagatsinghpur district. Sources said the woman was living a miserable life at her parental house after being separated from her husband, who hails from Salepur block in Kendrapada district.
On Monday, the woman along with her son was waiting for the Paradeep-Cuttack train. All of sudden, she jumped onto the moving train when it arrived at the station.
The Railway police seized the dead bodies and sent them for postmortem.
