A district-level paddy procurement meeting was held here on Monday. Water Resources and I&PR Minister Raghunandan Das emphasised on a flawless process in procuring paddy from farmers and clearing their payments. District Collector Saroj Kumar Mishra said paddy procurement would begin from January 5 adhering to Covid preventive measures.
Millers, Civil Supply department officials, RMC, Agriculture Cooperative Society and Central Cooperative Bank will join the paddy procurement in the district.
For this a mass awareness campaign would be launched in each Gram Panchayat for sensitizing, Collector informed.
District Civil Supply Officer Bibekananda Korkara informed that about 85,294 metric tonne paddy would be collected from farmers in Jagatinghpur district in 2021-22.
