The body of a two-year-old child, who had been missing from home three days ago, was recovered from a canal on Wednesday.
The infant, identified as Soumyaranjan Bhoi alias Bapun, was from Shankarpur village under Biridi block. Bapun, originally hailing from Mangalpur, had been residing in his uncle's house at Shankarpur along with his mother. On Sunday evening, he had gone missing. The family had a frantic search of him but in vain. Then, the family members informed the Biridi police station and police launched a search operation taking help of a dog squad and a scientific team. Strangely, Bapun’s body was found floating in the canal just a few meters from his house. Police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem and started an investigation.
