One Santosh Mallick of Sadhusahi village under Raghunathpur block in Jagatsinghpur district allegedly opened fire at his septuagenarian mother-in-law Santilata Mallick over some family dispute on Tuesday night.
When Santilata was taking rest in her house at Patenigaon village, an unidentified man opened fire at her through a window of the house. Santilata received a bullet in her thigh, following which she was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
On Wednesday, Santilata’s daughter Yotsnabala lodged an FIR at the Jagatsinghpur police station against Santosh in this connection. The police started investigation and detained a man in this connection. However, the police are yet to arrest Santosh.
