Basing on the allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by Jagatsinghpur district’s Kaijanga irrigation sub-division Assistant Engineer Kailash Chandra Behera, Vigilance officers on Friday conducted searches at his office room and houses at different places and detected assets worth Rs 1,04,45,431 in his and his family members’ names.
Vigilance officers conducted raids at Behera’s residential double-storied building at Nuapada, double-storied building at his native place Paikasahi, relative’s house Jaspada, house of mediator at Jaspara and office room at Kaijanga on the strength of court warrants.
Detected assets include two double-storied buildings of Rs 64,41,756, a plot of Rs 1,02,500, banks deposits of Rs 8,69,000, insurance deposits of Rs 13,51,000, a car and two motorcycles together worth Rs 7,80,000, gold ornaments of Rs 3,00,000, hard cash of Rs 1,51,175 and household articles of Rs 4,50,000.
