The Jagatsinghpur District Superintendent of Police has suspended Constable Sukanta Singh for negligence of his duty as an accused, Janaki Moharana, managed to escape from the SDJM Court before two days while Singh was guarding him.
Meanwhile, the police have failed to arrest the fugitive accused Moharana and launched a special drive for nabbing him.
Sources said the police had lodged a case against Moharana in a firing incident occurred before the Irrigation Office here on September, 2015. He was absconded since then.
He was appeared before the SDJM Court on Friday following instruction of the High Court seeking bail. The SDJM court rejected his bail application. After knowing about the bail rejection, accused Moharana managed to escape from the police custody.
later, the SP had sought a report from the court inspector, who submitted his report and blamed Sukant Singh for dereliction of duty.
