Junior Red Cross (JRC) volunteers of the ADAV High School visited the Sri Jagannath Old Age Home and orphanage on the outskirts of Sunabeda.
The students along with JRC Counselor Shaheda Praween spent some hours with the aged people and shared their moments of happiness and sorrow. Small children distributed sweets, biscuits to the aged persons and inquired about their health conditions.
When the students asked about how they become orphans at this age, the elderly persons narrated various reasons. The aged persons also have interacted with all the children and advised them to study hard and excel in their career and take care of their parents. The students tried their best to keep the elders in good humor and sang devotional songs.
“To sensitise the children about the importance of elderly persons in the society and to motivate them to respect their parents and grandparents is the motto behind such visit,” said Praween.
