Gop block ex-chief gets RI in graft case
A one-day workshop on the Right to Information (RTI) Act was organised here by local NGO Bright Career Academy (BCA) in collaboration with the district Information and Public Relations department.
Attending as chief guest, local Sub-Collector Birendro Korkora spoke on the importance and objectives of the RTI Act. RTI activist Pradeep Pradhan highlighted obligations of public authorities, role of the State Information Commission (SIC), its power and functions, including appeal provisions and penalties under the law. He also briefed on the Odisha Right to Information Rules and role of Public Information Officer (PIO), APIO and appellate authorities.
Prafulla Kumar Mallick of the NGO presided over the workshop, in which as many as 60 PIOs and APIOs of various Government organisations, including media representatives participated. Among others, coordinator of Basundhara, Cuttack Harihar Nayak, BCA secretary lM Pattanaik and local SDI and PRO Pitabash Biswal spoke.
