In yet another example of the soaring street crimes in the capital city, a journalist sustained injuries in an attack by two miscreants at Delta Square during a snatching bid on Friday. Satya Sundar Bhanja, who is working for a vernacular daily newspaper, was admitted to the Capital Hospital. According to reports, two bike-borne miscreants tried to snatch the mobile phone of Bhanja when he was on his morning walk.
When Bhanja resisted the loot bid, the miscreants hit him with an iron rod on his head, snatched his phone and sped away from the spot. Locals rushed Bhanja to the hospital in a serious condition. His condition was stated to be stable now.
Notably, miscreants are targeting morning walkers and snatching their mobile phones or ornaments. They are taking advantage of the fact that the streets are less crowded and there is virtually no police presence in the morning time. The frequent snatching incidents have triggered panic among the morning walkers.
