Waking up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan, the Joda Municipality on Wednesday launched a cleanliness drive, ‘Swachchh Joda’ to clean all the garbage from the lakshmi puja ground at Joda in Keonjhar district.
The ground has remained littered with a huge amount of waste materials since Mahalakshmi Puja celebrated recently.
Senior citizen and Puja Committee vice-president Nilamani Mohanty inaugurated the drive by sweeping the ground. Others who participated include committee secretary Rabi Das, treasurer Bholanath Sahoo and member Dr Jagadish Sahoo, Muncipality Chairman Manjula Patra, Vice-Chairman Surendra Nath Jena, Councillor Suresh Barik and mediapesons Prakash Chandra Mohanty and Sarada Prasanna Acharya.
Municipality Sanitary Inspector Rajendra Kumar Mishra, TSRDS’ PK Das, and contractor Bachu Bose supervised the drive throughout the day.
The Municipality Chairman said cleanliness programmes would be undertaken in other parts of the municipality also.
