J'mohan work: SJTA disputes ASI claim of 80% completion

PNS

A dispute between the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) over the repair of Jagamohan has come to the fore with the former submitting a supplementary counter affidavit in the Orissa High Court on Wednesday in response to a public interest litigation (PIl).

In its supplementary counter affidavit, the SJTA has rejected the ASI’s claim that it has completed 80 per cent of the repair work.

The SJTA has also claimed that except de-plastering of the Jagamohan and repair and grouting of the Jagamohan drain, no repair work of its main structure had been undertaken by the ASI.

The court, after going through the counter affidavit of the SJTA, asked the ASI to submit details of the repair work it has completed and the remaining works it is going to undertake through a fresh affidavit.

The court will hear the case next on August 29.

According to Shreemandir Managing Committee lawyer Subrat Satpathy, the court also asked the ASI to hold a meeting with the Shreemandir Managing Committee and the district administration and ensure timely completion of the repair work.
