A 30-year-old jilted lover was arrested by the Soro police a day after he attempted to commit sexual offence against a 19- year-old girl after kidnapping her and further trying to kill her by slitting her throat.
The incident took place at Tentei village under the Soro police station limits in Baleswar district on Monday night.
The victim was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital with injuries around her neck and hand, she was undergoing treatment and her condition is stated to be stable, the doctors said here.
According to reports, Parsuram Biswal (30), the accused, had a one-sided love with the victim. Not only did he propose to the victim, he also had approached her relatives with her marriage proposal. While his proposal was rejected by the victim as well her parents, about three days back, he had barged into her bed room at night.
He was caught and beaten up by the victim as well as her father who later let him off with warning.
However, on Monday night, Biswal, after feeling dejected, in order to take revenge had entered the victim’s house again with a sharp edged knife along with an accomplice.
It is alleged that he had drugged the victim before taking her to a distant place where he wanted to commit the crime at knife point.
He slit the throat of the victim, when the latter resisted.
However, the victim could escape from the scene and reached home at about 12.30 am.
The father of the victim lodged an FIR with the police.
The Soro police after registering a case under several Sections of IPC, began a manhunt. Biswal, who was hiding in one of his relatives’ house, was nabbed on Tuesday, said the police.
