The day’s deceased was identified as Manoj Baraja (5) of Barajaguda village. The child died while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital here.

National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Joint director Kalpana Baruah, a member of the six-member Central team, said the Malkangiri district administration and the Health Department have taken satisfactory measures to curb spread of the vector-borne disease.

“The district administration is working well to curb the outbreak of JE. Besides, the State Government has taken all possible measures to address the problem,” said Baruah after holding discussions with Health Department officials here.

“A decision regarding administration of vaccines would be taken after a meeting to be held in November-December,” she said.
