The Vigilance police on Thursday caught Debabrata Sahu, Junior Engineer (JE), Office of Superintending Engineer, Rural Development Division, Rourkela, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person.
Sahu had demanded the bribe from the complainant (a contractor) to clear his bill of maintenance of a road work.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the rented residential house of Sahu located at HIG-211, Cooperative Colony, Chhend Phase-II, Rourkela and his office chamber.
Further investigation was on.
