The jam-packed Barabati daily vegetable market alongside the NH-5 here under Rasulpur block here is causing serious traffic problems. Hundreds of people daily come to the market and park their vehicles on the roadside to purchase vegetables raising chances of accidents. Despite repeated warning by the local police, the traders are not paying any heed to it. Even the local people have demanded clearance of the NH near the market with deployment of security forces.
“Since the market has high demand for fresh vegetables coming from Bargarh and Ranchi, the people here make beelines to purchase items resulting in traffic congestion,” said Ananta Swain, a local. When contacted, Dharmasala IIC Amitav Mohapatra said that the police would sort out the issue after holding discussions with the market committee.
