Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) Dharmasala constituency unit convenor Prabhakar Nayak has sought the intervention of State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) into his illegal arrest and police excesses against him.
Submitting a memorandum to the SHRC, Nayak said, “Supporters of local MlA and Panchayati Raj Minister Kalpataru Das have been framing false charges against me and pressurising the local police to take action against me. For instance, though I was not present at Jaraka Bazaar at the time of a liquor shop demolition a few days ago, the local police illegally framed me in the case in a bid to satisfy the Minister.”
“The police and the Minister’s supporters are also trying to implicate me in false charges even after my release from jail on bail granted by the State High Court recently,” the memorandum stated.
