Jajpur admn to evict guesthouse of Bhadra

PNS

The Jajpur district administration on Thursday served a notice to evict the guesthouse constructed by Rupesh Bhadra, husband of Haridaspur Sarpanch.

Bhadra was arrested on October 19 for allegedly abetting the suicide of Haridaspur Village Level Worker (VLW) and in-charge Panchayat Executive officer (PEO) Smitarani Biswal.

The body of Biswal was found hanging in the guesthouse on October 16.

Opposition parties which have been demanding a high-level probe into the death of the VLW had alleged that the guesthouse was built by encroaching Government land.

Jajpur Collector Ranjan Kumar Das said that investigation by the revenue officials revealed that the guesthouse has been built on Government land. “We have already served an eviction notice but we will not be able to demolish the guesthouse immediately due to the ongoing police investigation.”

“We have also sought the opinion of the Jajpur Superintendent of Police. We have imposed prohibitory orders in the area for the time being,” added Das.
