The family members of deceased in the Bhuban cooking gas cylinder fire and more than 5,000 women of Bhub23an NAC led by BJP leader Er Debashisha Hota held a Jail Bharo agitation demanding proper investigation into the case They demanded action against fire officer Dr Ramesh Sahoo for suppressing the facts. They also alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and local MLA and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick put pressure on the investigation team so that the accused are off the hook. They took out a rally from the Nua Bhuban Siv Mandir and moved around the entire Bhuban village. Notably, Mamata and her minor daughter Jyotshna of Nua Bhuban Godipatana area were charred to death due to mishandling of a gas cylinder given to them under Ujjwala scheme on September 7. But the agitators denied the cause and demanded a fair investigation into the matter.
