Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Friday approved pucca houses for 36,062 urban landless and economically backward families under the State Government’s JAGA Mission and the Centre’s housing-for-all scheme.
Making a presentation in a meeting on the Awas Yojana, Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary G Mathivathanan said that till date, 1,55,078 families spread over 114 urban areas have been provided with pucca houses.
Out of these, 64,005 houses have already been constructed and construction of the remaining houses has been speeded up. Housing and Urban Development Department Special Secretary Dr Suresh Chandra Dalai apprised the meeting that under the JAGA Mission 1,05,000 families have been provided with land entitlement certificates and 65,000 families given land rights certificates.
Under this scheme, both Union and State Governments have their shares of funds. As of now, Rs 1496 crore has been spent.
