Finally, separated conjoined twins Jaga and Kalia would return to the State after being discharged from the AIIMS New Delhi on September 6.

After reaching the State, the twins would be admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack for further treatment.

Health Minister Naba Kishore Das informed this here on Thursday. He said the twins would be brought back by the Rajdhani Express train on September 6.

A team of four doctors from the AIIMS New Delhi and a staff of the Odisha Bhawan in Delhi would accompany the two children and their parents. They would arrive at Cuttack on September 7.

The twins would be admitted in the neurosurgery ward of the SCB Hospital.

A six-member team with specialists from neurosurgery, neurology, and surgery and paediatrics departments would be in charge of their treatment, the Minister said.

“The SCB Hospital Superintendent has been asked to ensure treatment of the twins.

The State Government will bear all the medical expenses,” Das said. Notably, the craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors at the AIIMS New Delhi after a marathon 21-hour surgery in October 2017.
