BJP State president Basant Panda on Monday hailed the Union Budget as a “people’s budget” and thanked Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for it.
“Despite global economic recession, the Government has prepared the budget with emphasis on education, energy, health, employment, housing and social protection sectors. Villages, poor, farmers, workers, youths, women and middle class people will be benefitted,” said Panda in a statement.
According to the Budget 2016-17, a Plan Expenditure of Rs 19.78 crore has been made.
It is proposed that farmers would be given loans to the tune of Rs 9 lakh crore. Similarly, 14 lakh farmer families would be given ‘Mrutika Swasthya Card’ and there has been a expenditure layout of Rs 5,500 crore for crop insurance. Similarly, 28.5 lakh hectares of land would be irrigated, he said.
“The General Budget will provide a lot of support to Odisha like the Railway Budget placed recently in the Parliament,” Panda said.
