Even as the murder of of Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahoo at Bhimatangi here has sent shockwaves, police on Tuesday said it was a pre-planned crime.
“Prima facie, it seems that both (accused and deceased) were known to each other and close. However, a feud developed between the two over some matter following which the accused had planned to execute the crime. It was a pre-determined murder,” DCP Umashankar Dash said. A handwritten letter which has been recovered from the crime scene revealed that the accused had planned to eliminate the three-year son of the deceased, Priyanka, first before eliminating her.
Later, he planned to commit suicide, Dash said. The letter recovered from the spot would be sent to the forensic laboratory for verification, he added. Dash further informed that a special team would go to Jajpur for further investigation. The team would question the close relatives of both accused and victim to unearth more information, he added. The accused will undergo further treatment even though he is now out of danger.
"He will be interrogated once he gets discharged from the hospital,” the DCP said.Asked if the accused had barged into the house of the victim, the DCP said there was no such evidence to suggest forced entry.
