Income Tax (IT) officials on Friday conducted raid on the house and office of a reputed contractor of the district, Braja Kishore Das, who is eldr brother of Jharsuguda Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das.
A team of senior officials from New Delhi assisted by IT officials from Rourkela, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur took part in this high-profile raid, the results of which were kept secret.
After the demonetisation process, this was a major raid of its kind on any businessman of the town or the region. It spread panic among other rich businessmen and industrial houses.
Das is an old contractor and also the owner of vast property. Though he is a Congress MlA’s brother, his active business partner is a senior BJP leader. The raid was continuing, and the details were awaited.
